More info: Future of Watchtower
by winnower inin a recent post, journey-on had some very very interesting observations.
i am taking them a little deeper.. journey on said:i think they will go sort of mainstream if they see the slow leak has turned into a full blown rupture....but it will happen gradually and over time.
it is very apparent that you have given this a lot of deep thought.

WOW and WOW again! I love it - I too, am an 'over-doer' but this is FANTASTIC - just one typo - undue rather than undo somewhere around the middle
By the way, what you say about their inane Bible references is so true...I remember seeing letters to the pioneers full of smarmy sentences followed by scriptural references that probably had zippo to do with what just preceded it.
Once you have this gem completed, you should FRAME a copy for posterity, maybe COPYRIGHT it and sell them with a spot for signature at the bottom - sign me up for one when done - you're probably on to a real good thing here! Really shows them up for what hypocrites they are. WELL DONE!

Tuesday the 20th, Pray for Attorneys in Blood Case
by skeeter1 infrom the canadian supreme court's website, the court will hear a pivitol blood case whether a jehovah's witness teenager should be forced to have a blood transfusion.
this important case will most likely set the tone of the canadian government stand on a minor's right to refuse medically recommended life-saving treatment.. skeeter.

Skeeter, thanks for the heads up on this...I would hope that Canada's Supreme Court attorneys are aware of and able to use the information in Kerry Louderback Wood's article as to just how much 'informed' consent 'mature' minors actually have, and the bias inherent in the information they are fed by Watchtower as to the efficacy of certain treatments for certain conditions. There was another case mentioned on another thread recently in Ireland that turned on the issue of 'capacity' to make an 'informed' decision - probably relevant in this case also...will be watching as to how this unfolds...

Finding Faith
by Ima Apostate inhow many of you ex-jw kids were able to believe in mainstream christianity after leaving the borg?
within the last year, i have opened up to getting to know god again.
what's funny is that when i prayed for truth and to know god, i knew and had a real feeling in my heart that i was getting closer to something real, but there was still a voice going, "hey, it's me jehovah, and you have rejected me!".

Roller Dave:
I'm with you on not having the stomach for all the back and forth on some of these threads...but I enjoy reading them nonetheless.
Trevor:
I think you make some really good points..except for calves being slaughtered for milk - I think you meant veal, no?

Belief in God 'childish,' Jews not chosen people: Einstein letter
by What-A-Coincidence inlondon (afp) - albert einstein described belief in god as "childish superstition" and said jews were not the chosen people, in a letter to be sold in london this week, an auctioneer said tuesday.
advertisement.
[blocked ads]the father of relativity, whose previously known views on religion have been more ambivalent and fuelled much discussion, made the comments in response to a philosopher in 1954.. as a jew himself, einstein said he had a great affinity with jewish people but said they "have no different quality for me than all other people".. "the word god is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the bible a collection of honourable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish.. "no interpretation no matter how subtle can (for me) change this," he wrote in the letter written on january 3, 1954 to the philosopher eric gutkind, cited by the guardian newspaper.. the german-language letter is being sold thursday by bloomsbury auctions in mayfair after being in a private collection for more than 50 years, said the auction house's managing director rupert powell.. in it, the renowned scientist, who declined an invitation to become israel's second president, rejected the idea that the jews are god's chosen people.. "for me the jewish religion like all others is an incarnation of the most childish superstitions," he said.. "and the jewish people to whom i gladly belong and with whose mentality i have a deep affinity have no different quality for me than all other people.".

Precisely! I would add only the qualifier that belief in the so-called 'God of the Jews' as proferred in the so-called 'Holy Bible' is childish. Thanks for posting; wonder what the letter will fetch?

Ok, so I heard more or less from the horse's mouth just the other day that another lawyer has 'moved' straight into the legal department at headquarters, because the legal department is a very 'growing department' at the present time. I wonder why???
With results like these, you'd think some of the WT's lawyers might be of the 'apostate' persuasion!
